Organizers of GayDays Orlando—one of the largest LGBTQ+ gatherings in the world—announced on February 9, 2026, that their scheduled 35th-anniversary event in June will not proceed as planned. While the group describes the move as a “pause” rather than a permanent cancellation, the decision highlights growing economic and political pressures on major LGBTQIA+ events in Florida.

Organizers cited a “perfect storm” of challenges, including the loss of key sponsorship support and sudden changes to their host hotel agreement.

The group noted “broader challenges” currently impacting LGBTQIA+ events across the U.S., which made it impossible to deliver the high-quality experience attendees expect.

The pause follows the cancellation of other regional events like Tampa Pride, as organizers face rising security costs and a “cautious” corporate environment.

Despite the official event series being paused, the community is refusing to let the spirit of June fade:

Organizers and community members are still encouraging guests to visit Disney World on Saturday, June 6, wearing red shirts to show visibility and solidarity.

“Red Shirt Day” remains a community-driven tradition that is not officially managed by GayDays, Inc., and is expected to continue regardless of the official “pause”.

While Orlando is resetting, Gay Days Anaheim has confirmed that its events at Disneyland Resort remain scheduled for September 18–20, 2026.
