50 Cent Says He ‘Would’ Attend Taylor Swift’s Wedding If Invited After His Shoutout on The Life of a Showgirl
50 Cent wouldn’t turn down an invite to Taylor Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce!
After the singer referenced him on her recent album The Life of a Showgirl, 50 Cent opened up on ExtraTV about whether he’d RSVP “yes” to a wedding invitation to Swift and Kelce’s wedding.
“I would make my way over there,” 50 Cent said, flashing a grin. He added that he likes Kelce, as well — “I like the team, you know, I like the whole thing.”
The rapper was notably referenced on Swift’s track “Ruin the Friendship,” which debuted on Oct. 3. In the song, Swift mentions the rapper’s music as a backdrop to a memory she wishes she could change.
And it was not an invitation / But as the 50 Cеnt song played (Song played) / Should’ve kissed you anyway (Anyway) / And it was not (And it was not) convenient (Convenient), no / Would’ve been the best mistake / Should’ve kissed you anyway, hey-ey,” Swift sang on the song.
The day the album launched, 50 Cent reacted to the reference with a post on Instagram, giddy about being the only artist that got a shoutout on the entire ablum.
“THIS IS FOR BIG TIMERS ONLY!” 50 Cent wrote in the caption of the post, which also featured artwork of The Life of a Showgirl.
50 Cent reflected on the moment he learned about Swift’s shoutout while on Extra TV. He noted that in context, the reference is less about him and more about what was “going on in culture at that time.”
That’s why it was cool to me … the shoutout is the shoutout, but what she was making reference to was the period that no one was more prominent in music at that point,” 50 Cent said on ExtraTV. “So it was exciting to have that.”
The rapper added that “you’d have to ask [Swift]” if the two of them would ever collaborate on a song together. Their respective styles are pretty different, he added, but if she ever had a song that made sense with his voice, he’d be open.
