⚡ TRUMP ORDERS PENTAGON TO BUY COAL POWER
US President Donald Trump has directed the Pentagon to purchase electricity from coal-fired power plants, framing the move as a national security necessity.
Surrounded by coal miners at the White House, Trump signed an executive order instructing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to secure long-term coal agreements, arguing that coal provides “uninterrupted, on-demand baseload power” for military bases.
Industry leaders even presented him with a trophy naming him the “undisputed champion of coal,” reinforcing his long-standing support for what he calls “beautiful clean coal.”
The decision marks another aggressive step in Trump’s broader push to revive the coal industry since returning to office in January 2025. In April, he signed measures aimed at turbocharging coal mining and expanding electricity production to compete with China in the AI energy race.
At the same time, Trump is moving to dismantle major climate policies introduced by Barack Obama and Joe Biden, including plans to scrap the landmark scientific finding that greenhouse gases endanger public health — a foundation of US environmental regulation.
