Trump: Ending war will be ‘mutual’ decision with Netanyahu. SEE MORE BELOW 👇
Donald Trump has said ending the war with Iran will be a “mutual” decision with Benjamin Netanyahu.
The US president said his Israeli counterpart would have input on resolving the conflict, claiming Tehran would have destroyed Israel if they had not attacked the regime first.
Asked whether he alone would decide when the war ends, Mr Trump told The Times of Israel: “I think it’s mutual… a little bit. We’ve been talking. I’ll make a decision at the right time, but everything’s going to be taken into account.”
He added: “Iran was going to destroy Israel and everything else around it… We’ve worked together. We’ve destroyed a country that wanted to destroy Israel.”
Mr Trump previously told The Telegraph he expected the war to last four weeks, despite Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, claiming it could drag on for six.
He declined to comment on the election of Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as Iran’s new supreme leader, saying: “We’ll see what happens.”
Mr Trump earlier suggested that the next Iranian leader would not “last long” without US approval.
