BREAKING NEWS: Clintons Agree to Testify in House Epstein Probe After Contempt Threat

Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have agreed to testify in the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein after lawmakers moved toward holding them in criminal contempt of Congress. The decision was confirmed Monday, February 2, 2026, following escalating pressure from Republican leaders on the panel.

The House Oversight Committee is examining what the Clintons knew about Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, including Hillary Clinton’s role overseeing U.S. anti–sex trafficking efforts while serving as secretary of state.

“The Clintons are not above the law,” the committee said in a statement posted on X. Bill Clinton spokesman Angel Ureña said both Clintons “will be there and look forward to setting a precedent that applies to everyone.”

Committee Chairman James Comer said the agreement followed the House’s move toward contempt proceedings, adding that the Clintons have not yet provided specific dates for their depositions. “The only reason they have said they agree to terms is because the House has moved forward with contempt,” Comer said.

House leaders temporarily paused contempt proceedings Monday night after receiving confirmation from the Clintons’ attorneys.

The dispute echoes earlier clashes between House Republicans and high-profile witnesses over compliance in the Epstein probe. Democrats on the committee criticized the move, arguing the panel has not applied the same pressure to other witnesses or the Justice Department, which has yet to produce all requested Epstein-related documents.
