BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump’s Hollywood Star Vandalized With Four Words In Viral Photo

A photograph appearing to show President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame vandalized with a series of slurs has gone viral on social media.

A Reddit user, posting as u/yourstruly_chris, shared an image of the star defaced with four words: “terrorist, pedophile, traitor, tyrant.” Newsweek has contacted the White House for comment.

The post has been upvoted over 109,000 times. Chris, the Reddit user behind the post, said the photo was taken on January 8 while he was visiting the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “It caught me off-guard,” Chris told Newsweek. “It was the remarks written about Trump that caused me to take the picture. I thought it was interesting and also kind of funny seeing all of that written over his star.”

Chris, who is a critic of the Trump administration, chose not to share his full name. He claimed it looked like attempts had been made to “cover up” other comments and doodles that had been drawn on the square. “From what I could tell, there was a scrubbed-off drawing,” Chris said. “And a faded out ‘DIE’ at the bottom.”

He added that he has his own idea about what the four slurs written on the star are likely related to. “I think the reason behind the defacing is really obvious, with all the stuff about ICE, Venezuela, [Jeffrey] Epstein, and past charges circulating,” he said.

Given that the photo was allegedly taken several days ago, Chris said it is likely that the words have now been removed from the star. However, a video, posted to TikTok by Tracey Mello just 24 hours ago, shows all four slurs still visible on the square. Watch the video here.

If true, this will make the latest in a series of attempts at vandalizing Trump’s star.

Trump was first given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame back in 2007. For a time, it remained untouched, until his foray into the world of politics.

Since Trump entered office, it has been not only vandalized but also smashed several times.

In 2016, a street artist called Plastic Jesus placed prison bars on the star. He returned again in 2023, to arrange a toilet, bathtub and stakes of fake documents around the star, in reference to the Mar-a-Lago classified-documents case.

During the intervening years, there have been other, less-inventive attempts at destroying the star. In October 2016, a man was arrested for vandalizing the star with a jackhammer and pickax. Then in July 2018, a 24-year-old man was arrested, after smashing the star with a pickaxe. It was returned to the Walk of Fame in September of that year.

A 2023 report by the Los Angeles Times said more than $20,000 has been spent by the Hollywood Historic Trust in repairing the star.

Despite this, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has rejected the idea of removing Trump’s star or those of any other individuals who have faced criminal charges or serious allegations since being added to the Walk of Fame, with Bill Cosby a prime example. The logic is that, once a star is added, it is part of the fabric of Hollywood history.

In September 2018, Leron Gubler, president/CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, said: “Any star, which is vandalized or destroyed, no matter which honoree it belongs to will be replaced by the Hollywood Historic Trust, a nonprofit, non-partisan group. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a historic landmark which celebrates the professional contributions of the inductees. The stars, once installed, are considered part of the historic fabric of the Walk.”
