Donald Trump set to meet Keir Starmer after joking around during State Banquet

Donald Trump is set to meet with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in a few hours’ time before he heads off back to the US.

The US President stayed in Windsor last night after the State Banquet, where he made jokes about being the last President to have a second state visit and Charles remembering the ‘bad names’ of guests.

He is set to arrive at Chequers in Buckinghamshire later this morning before holding a meeting and press conference with Starmer.

They are set to look at Winston Churchill’s archives as well as watch a parachute display from the Red Devils this afternoon before Trump heads back to the US.

Last night, thousands of people gathered in central London yesterday evening over the second state visit.

Thousands of anti-Trump protesters marched through London on Wednesday in opposition to the US leader’s state visit.

Metro saw people holding placards calling the president, among other things, a ‘c**t’, ‘nonce’, ‘Fascist’ and a ‘dick-tator’.

The march was run by Stop Trump Coalition, who else held smaller rallies in Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool and other major cities.

There are no more organised protests set to take place in England and Wales during the final day of Trump’s visit.

However, The Stop Trump Coalition is holding one final demonstration in Edinburgh this evening before the president heads home.

Both heads of state cracked some funny one-liners during last night’s state banquet.

Charles kicked off the addresses with a tongue-in-cheek remark about Trump’s golf courses.

The monarch told the 160 guests: ‘Mr President, you have spoken of your pride in your British roots.

‘In fact, not only have you set foot on British soil twice in the last two months alone, but I understand that British soil makes for rather splendid golf courses!’

This got a chuckle from the president, but the King didn’t stop there.

He then joked about nearly being ‘married off’ to the family of former US president Richard Nixon.

Charles was referring to when he spent time with Richard Nixon’s daughter, Tricia, at various social events, when the then-Prince was 21.

He said: ‘Throughout my life, from my very first visit to the United States in 1970 and over 20 visits since that time, I have cherished the close ties between the British and American peoples.

‘In fact, had the media succeeded in the 1970s in their own attempt at deepening the special relationship, I myself might have been married off within the Nixon family.’

The US president then his got turn with the mic and didn’t waste it.

He began by referencing the historic nature of his second invite to the UK, saying he wanted to keep it that way.

Trump said: ‘It is a privilege to be the first American president welcomed here.

And if you think about it, a lot of presidents and this was this was the second state visit and that is the first.

‘Maybe that is going to be the last time—I hope it is, actually.’

The US leader then made a bizarre barb about some of the ‘bad names’ of everyone attending last night’s banquet.

He joked: ‘I just stood in line and shook about 150 hands, and the King knew every single person and every single company.

‘Some of them had bad names like “XYZ-Q3” and he knew every one of them, or at least I think he did, because nobody was complaining. I was very impressed with that.’
