Jessica Biel Chooses her Career over Justin Timberlake
It’s been almost a month since Justin Timberlake was arrested for a DWI in the Hamptons, and it sounds like Jessica Biel is taking an assessment of her life and career in the aftermath. The 42-year-old actress has reportedly decided to put herself and her career first.
An In Touch source revealed that “she loved all the attention she got at the Met [Gala],” describing it as a “huge win for her.” While Biel and Timberlake are usually a united front on the red carpet, the Sinner star realized that “she doesn’t need Justin by her side to make a splash.” Biel has been busy this summer filming the Amazon Prime series, The Better Sister, with Elizabeth Banks — and it sounds like she’s ready for more.
“She’s super excited to be acting again, which she loves. She’s been making a concerted effort to put herself out there without him because it’s always bugged her that people see her more as Mrs. Timberlake than her own person,” the insider added. When she married the *NSYNC boy bander in 2012, she let her career “take a backseat because she was in love,” now it’s time to “embrace her own career.”
Biel divulged on the May 16 episode of The View that their marriage is “a work in progress” having weathered several cheating scandals. “It’s constantly trying to find the balance, trying to find the time,” she added. They are bonded with their love for sons, Silas, 9, and Phineas, 3, but she reportedly feels like it’s time for Timberlake to take on a few of the home-parenting duties.
“She wants the chance to bring home the bacon for a change and once this tour is over she’s planning to make Justin stay home with the kids while she goes out and takes over Hollywood again,” the In Touch source noted. Biel has stood by her man through some tough times, and now, it’s time for Timberlake to let his wife shine. The 43-year-old singer reminded his fans after he was caught acting inappropriately with his Palmer co-star Alisha Wainwright in 2018, he has a lot of maturing yet to do.
“A few weeks ago, I displayed a strong lapse in judgment — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my costar,” he said in a statement to People. “I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son.” He added. “I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be.”
