Trump Demands FBI Agents Fired After Reports Tie Arctic Frost Probe to Him
President Donald Trump on January 12 publicly ordered FBI Director Kash Patel to remove agents he accused of corruption, following reports detailing internal FBI activity tied to the Arctic Frost investigation.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump reacted to newly reported documents describing the role of former FBI official Timothy Thibault in authorizing and expanding the Arctic Frost probe, which initially focused on the January 6 Capitol unrest. Trump wrote, “These FBI Agents are total Scum,” and added, “Kash better get them out, NOW!”
The reports, published by Just the News and cited by multiple outlets, allege that Arctic Frost broadened to include scrutiny of Trump, Republican organizations, and elected officials. Congressional materials released by Sen. Chuck Grassley indicate that internal FBI emails circulated media commentary and pushed to name Trump as a formal subject of the investigation.
The development means renewed public pressure on FBI leadership as Patel continues an internal review of past investigations. Patel has previously testified that some agents tied to Arctic Frost were terminated and that a Washington Field Office unit was disbanded.
The controversy follows earlier whistleblower complaints and congressional inquiries alleging political bias within the FBI, including claims involving election related investigations and case classifications.
Supporters of Trump say the disclosures confirm long standing concerns about politicization within federal law enforcement. Critics argue the president’s rhetoric undermines institutional credibility and ongoing oversight processes.
