How Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Convinced Patrick Mahomes They Were the Real Deal

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s dating situation in the summer of 2023 was a well-kept secret unless you were Patrick Mahomes.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback shared in the ESPN docuseries, The Kingdom, how he found out his teammate was dating the 35-year-old pop star, but he didn’t necessarily believe what Kelce told him.

He told me during the week,” Patrick explained in the docuseries, via E! News. “It was one of those where I gotta see it until I believe it.”

That day came on Sept. 24, 2023, when Swift showed up to Arrowhead Stadium and cheered on Kelce with his mom, Donna. “You definitely felt the buzz, and you could see people in the stadium gravitating towards where she was up there,” Patrick noted. “At the same time, we had business to handle.”

Kelce’s secret was safe with Patrick, which is probably why Swift feels comfortable hanging out with her boyfriend’s bestie and his wife, Brittany. They were the first people Kelce and Swift called after she did the Kelce brothers’ podcast, New Heights, on Aug. 13.

“They called [Brittany] after the podcast was done… and I was in the back of the FaceTime,” Patrick said at an Aug. 13 press conference. “I’m obviously super excited. Just knowing Taylor and seeing the process from just a little bit closer of how she makes the albums, it’s going to be amazing because of how much work she puts into it.”

Swift has quickly transformed into an NFL fan, and Kelce appreciates her efforts.

“She is the most engulfed fan now,” he told GQ in an Aug. 12 interview. “She knows what the injury reports look like. She understands what special situations are, third and short—all these things because she just naturally loves to hear about my job.”

Now the “Cruel Summer” singer is officially a WAG; her bond with the Mahomes family has only grown.

“Taylor and Brittany have grown even closer over the past several months,” a source told Us Weekly in January 2024. “They have a really genuine friendship and love hanging out at the games together and cheering on their men. Brittany loves that Taylor is dating Travis, and she’s so supportive of their relationship. They have a very similar
relationship. They have a very similar sense of humor and are always cracking jokes and laughing.”
