STATE OF DEFIANCE: Rubio expresses US support for Iranian people amidst anti-government protests
Secretary of State Marco Rubio signaled U.S. support for the “brave people of Iran,” as Saturday marks two weeks since the outbreak of massive anti-government protests across the Islamist country.
In an attempt to squash the growing movement, Iran’s attorney general said anyone taking part in the protests will be considered an “enemy of God,” a death-penalty charge.
Jan 10 (Reuters) – Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed U.S. support for the people of Iran on Saturday, after Iranian authorities blacked out the internet and they sought to curb anti-government protests raging across the country.
“The United States supports the brave people of Iran,” Rubio posted on X.
President Donald Trump issued a new warning to Iran’s leaders on Friday, saying, “You better not start shooting because we’ll start shooting too.”
